The market research company Gongos acquired by the Belgian company InSites Consulting

Royal Oak-based market research firm Gongos Inc. has been acquired by InSites Consulting, a Belgian company offering similar services that is seeking to strengthen its presence in the United States.

The purchase, completed two weeks ago, gives InSites 125 additional employees and business volume that includes Fortune 500 companies such as General Motors Co., Kellogg Co., Coca-Cola and US Bank, and represented $26.3 million in revenue last year.

Gongos and InSites provide business services related to analytics, marketing strategy, insights and customer experience. The combined company has more than 800 employees across 20 locations, with revenue of $114 million, according to a press release on Tuesday.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The company has been sold by Camille Nicita, sole owner and CEO of Gongos, who will continue to oversee InSites’ local operations as Managing Director, North America.

“Gongos’ customer-centric mission is to empower brands to create a reciprocal exchange of value with consumers, which ultimately drives business profitability and growth through meeting the needs of consumers. customers,” Nicita said in the statement. “We can now take this ambition to a global scale, and our customers will greatly benefit from this cross-fertilization.”

The acquisition will not impact Gongos employees in Royal Oak, spokeswoman Susan Scarlet said. Due to the rise of remote working amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the company is considering subletting some of its space in downtown Royal Oak, where in 2018 the company signed a 10-year lease for 20,000 square feet.

“There are so many reasons to be excited as we join forces with Gongos,” Kristof De Wulf, co-founder and CEO of InSites, said in the statement. “While we aim to be a truly global agency supporting brands around the world, having a strong presence in the US market is a necessary condition for success.”
