M+ and Design Confidence are pleased to announce “Research on the Move”, an event bringing together eight M+ researchers / Design Trust from 2015 to 2019. At this meeting, scholars based in Hong Kong and beyond will interview Hong Kong-based practitioners who have been influential in exploring similar fields through a series of thematic dialogues.

Research is fundamental to deepening and rethinking how the “designed” world was born. Research practice is continually shaped by changing assumptions, sites, perspectives and evidence. These dialogues will reflect how past surveys have informed fellows’ ongoing research trajectories and how they resonate with each practitioner’s work. Organized to mark the recent opening of M+ and the continued support of Design Trust, this event aims to stimulate the development of historical and practice-based research and to reconsider the role of the museum in these efforts.

It facilitates curatorial research on the histories and processes of architectural design and production in Hong Kong and the region. Fellows’ research, in turn, informs M+’s approach to curating, collecting and sharing knowledge with our audiences.
