Bodies By Design in Pflugerville donates $ 3,000 to the St. Jude Foundation following a fundraising campaign in September.

The health club traditionally hosts an event called Calories for St. Jude each year in September. This year, Bodies By Design had to make adjustments as the 5K Walk / Run was converted to a virtual event due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, that didn’t stop the club’s team leaders from getting together and creating their own 5km walk at Pflugerville Park.

“The past year has been difficult for everyone, but one thing we are not prepared to do is walk away from our commitment to helping families and patients in St. Jude as they fight to find their way back. their health and beat childhood cancer, ”said team leader Fred Sassani.

Bodies By Design started the campaign with a donation of $ 1,000 and members raised an additional $ 2,000 during “Calories for St. Jude” week where members were asked to choose a workout this week. there, to estimate or track how many calories they would burn during that workout. , then give a penny for each calorie burned.

“We are very grateful to everyone who participated in this incredible event with their donations and their time. Our customers at Bodies By Design never cease to amaze us with their big hearts and willingness to reach out and help the community, said team leader Donovan Owens. “St. Jude is very special to us and we will continue to contribute and do our part to help in any way we can.”

Founded by the late artist Danny Thomas in 1962, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., Aims to advance cures and means of preventing catastrophic pediatric disease through research and treatment.

Over the past 11 years, Bodies By Design has donated nearly $ 53,000 to St. Jude.
