Ceeda, the independent market researcher for the early years and childcare sector, announced its closure in early May due to a lack of funds.
Founded in 1999 by Chief Executive Jo Verrill, Ceeda was established to conduct independent research and intelligence for childcare providers, investors, local authorities and industry players.
Making the announcement on Ceeda’s website, Verrill said: “It is with sadness that we announce the closure of Ceeda effective May 1, 2022. We have had the great privilege of working with the early years sector over the past two decades, providing independent research and insight into funding and workforce challenges in an industry so vital to our children’s future.
“We would like to thank everyone who has made our work possible by supporting, funding or participating in our research programs, we could not have done it without you.”
Verrill has worked closely with nursery world over the years, including judging the nursery world rewards. She was also a member of the Early Years Workforce Commission set up in 2020 to address the recruitment crisis.
Ceeda’s research included workforce data and the most recent About Early Years Covid-19 tracker.
Jo Verrill told Nursery World, ‘I I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has made our work possible by supporting, funding or participating in our research programs, we could not have done it without you.
‘Decision closing Ceeda was done with a heavy heart. Raising funds for our research programs has always been a challenge, and like many in the industry itself, we have fought to remain sustainable over the years. Unfortunately, these challenges proved too great.
